Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) apologized Dec. 28 for intentionally slowing down older iPhones, telling customers the company would offer battery replacements for $29 through 2018.

Apple also plans to launch a new tool that gives iPhone owners a picture of their phone’s battery quality.
