The city of Atlanta should create an independent inspector general’s office to identify and investigate fraud, waste, corruption, abuse and misconduct.

That’s the key recommendation of a 13-member task force Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and the Atlanta City Council formed last February to look for ways to foster a greater commitment to ethics and transparency in city government.
