Woodruff Arts Center elects new trustees, Doug Hertz elected chairman

The Woodruff Arts Center said Tuesday it has named a number of new trustees, who recently were elected at its spring 2020 board meeting.

Douglas Hertz, president and CEO of United Distributors, was elected as chairman of the board for the Woodruff Arts Center to serve for a one-year term beginning on June 1, 2020 through May 31, 2021. He previously served as chairman from 2014 to 2017.

Senator David Perdue restructures his retirement savings, advisors to stop trading individual stocks

U.S. Senator David Perdue said Friday he has restructured his retirement savings so that his financial advisors will no longer trade individual stocks.

Perdue filed his April financial report, which shows that last month he and his wife Bonnie sold shares in dozens of companies and purchased shares in exchange traded funds. They already invest in mutual funds and municipal bonds. Perdue reported 174 stock sales during April totaling about $5.6 million, and 15 purchases totaling about $5.8 million.

Georgia's net tax collections for April show steep decline due to Covid-19 pandemic

The state of Georgia’s April net tax collections totaled nearly $1.84 billion for a decrease of $1.03 billion compared to April 2019 figures, according to officials.

The latest figures were released by the Gov. Brian Kemp’s office May 6 in a news release and show the continuing slide of the state’s economy due to the coronavirus pandemic.
