Wren & Roch is a fashion label designed for the fearless, by the fearless. In traditional luxury fashion, we found little representation of real women’s stories. Aside from beautiful products, there wasn’t a clear intention to leave the world a better place.

In 2015, we set out on a mission to shift fashion culture toward one of equity, strength, & courage. Since then, we continue to build our community by sharing stories of overcoming trauma, hardships, and fear to inspire you to #CarryYourCourage.

Above all, we believe that each dollar you spend, is a vote cast for the world in which you want to live. Proceeds from each of our products support nonprofits centered on uplifting marginalized communities and individuals.

I have experienced a good deal of trauma in my lifetime.  I have carried a lot of guilt, shame and embarrassment surrounding those stories and memories.  There was a moment I was at my desk reflecting on my college campus rape and going through the cycle of how it was my fault.  Maybe I didn’t say no enough.  Maybe I didn’t say it loud enough.  Maybe I didn’t push away hard enough.  Maybe I should’ve screamed or punched or something else, but I was frozen.

At the end of that self-destructive cycle on that day, I had an awakening.  It was not my fault.  I did say no.  I said it loud enough and I said it multiple times.  Why was I carrying the shame and embarrassment of that and my resulting pregnancy?  Why was it ok for people to judge me as a single mom when no one was judging him for raping someone who couldn’t fight back?

That cycle ended and I took back my power and my story.  I decided to do something about it.  I wanted to stand up for myself and for all the other victims and survivors who were still blaming themselves.  I wanted to let them know it wasn’t their fault and that I have their back.  I have survived childhood sexual assault by family members, college campus rape and pregnancy, domestic violence with restraining orders, robbery and embezzlement by family, and what I can tell you for sure, is that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, whether you like it or not.

I am a warrior.  I am an activist.  I am strong and I am not afraid to speak up, even if it makes others uncomfortable.  I carry my courage every day and on the few days I can’t, I am not afraid to ask for help.  I hope Wren & Roch inspires you, motivates you and brings you strength and courage when you need it the most.  Be fearless in your endeavors and Carry Your Courage always.  Big hugs from me to you, Karen.

Laura Rachlin / Wren & Roch

As a survivor of college campus rape and domestic violence, it is important to me to not hide in shame because of the trauma I’ve experienced. Instead, I am wearing my “battle scars” with pride, in the hopes that my story will change a life, for the better. If I save one person from becoming a victim of abuse, then this journey of vulnerability and courage is worth it. I am standing up and speaking up on behalf of people who can’t find their voice and potentially never will.

I want to be a hero and role model to my three children. I want them to see their “Mama Roch” has gotten out of her comfort zone and has shared some “not so pretty” experiences about her life. In doing so, my hope is that they too will be brave and fearless enough to be the future change makers this world needs. I want to leave a legacy for them and others. To lead by example and to do the right thing, because it’s the right thing to do. A motto my father and one of my heroes has taught me to live by.
