Aaron Strout / W2O Group
Aaron Strout is a seasoned, strategic marketer who grew up in digital. During his 25+ years in the industry, he has been a pioneer in mobile and location-based marketing. Throughout his career, he has focused on client success, building high-performance teams and profitable revenue growth.
Aaron is currently the CMO of W2O, an analytics-driven, marketing and communications firm focused on healthcare. He sits on the executive leadership team and is responsible for all aspects of marketing at the company.
During his time at the firm, he’s built the marketing function from the ground up to an extended team of 20 plus people. Over the last year, Aaron rolled out Salesforce and Pardot to create a demand generation engine for the company. Aaron is also responsible for building a world-class thought leadership platform at W2O including hundreds of blog posts, videos, podcasts, white papers and research reports reaching thousands of clients and prospects.
Prior to taking over marketing, he was the President of WCG, one of the agencies under the W2O umbrella. While President, Aaron oversaw a senior 100-person team responsible for over $35M in revenue. He was promoted to the role of President after building a $25M tech practice at W2O. Aaron was also responsible for bringing in multi-million dollar relationships with Verizon, Hewlett Packard, Intel and Xfinity while leading the tech practice.
Prior to W2O, Aaron was CMO and head of Business Development for one of the first social media marketing agencies, Powered (now part of Sprinklr). Before joining Powered, Aaron was the VP of Social Media (one of the first in that position) at online community platform, Mzinga.
In his role of director of digital marketing at Fidelity Investments, Aaron launched their first online advertising campaign, build and launch a prospect-focused website, developed a multi-touch attribution model for measuring new client acquisition and roll out Fidelity’s first email marketing campaigns. In addition, Aaron launched industry-leading new customer partnerships with United Airlines and eBay.
has taken time to give back to the industry through his award-winning What2Know podcast series featuring guests such as Katie Couric and Dr. Eric Topol. Aaron is also an accomplished industry speaker with featured talks at world class industry events like SXSW, INBOUND Summit, CES and AdWeek. He is the co-author of Location-Based Marketing for Dummies and is a contributor to Marketingland.
Aaron is the co-founder and former President of the Boston Interactive Media Association (BIMA) – now part of the Massachusetts Interactive Technology Exchange (MITX). Aaron also serves on the boards of NEAR and Hiking My Feelings.
