Houston developers break ground on more spec industrial projects

Two Houston-based developers recently broke ground on new industrial projects within a few miles of George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Clay Development & Construction Inc. is building Kennedy Greens Distribution Center I on John F. Kennedy Boulevard at Lauder Road, about 2 miles south of Beltway 8, according to an April 19 press release. The spec project is expected to target e-commerce retailers, logistics and oil field services companies.

Houston developer’s first multifamily project underway

Houston-based D’Agostino Cos. is building its first multifamily project in City Place, a 65-acre mixed-use development in Conroe.

The Reserve at City Place, a garden-style apartment complex, broke ground in February and is expected to open in January 2020, according to a press release. Houston-based Meeks + Partners served as the architect, Houston-based Blazer Building is the general contractor, and Greystar will be property manager. The project was capitalized using HUD 221 (d)(4) financing.

Katy community Lakehouse officially opens

Lakehouse, a new 225-acre community northwest of Houston, is now open. The 350-home development by Houston-based Trendmaker Homes sits northwest of town, near the intersection of Clay and Pitts Road north of Interstate 10.

So far, seven homes have been sold, and first move-ins are expected this summer.

Homes fall within Katy Independent School District boundaries and will range in price from the $200,000s to $600,000s. Lakehouse homes will vary from 1,800 square feet up to 5,000 square feet,…

Avenue CDC, a nonprofit focused on affordable housing, celebrated the groundbreaking of its new mixed-use community center just north of downtown on April 15. 

Tax Day was chosen as the groundbreaking date in an effort to highlight the tax benefits of homeownership, according to a media alert.

Boeing CEO, speaking in Texas, says test flights for software update have been successful

Boeing Chief Executive Dennis Muilenburg said 96 test flights have been conducted with updated software as the manufacturer tries to get the 737 Max back in the sky.

Muilenburg, speaking at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, also said two-thirds of the 50 carriers that operate the plane model have tested the updated software in a simulator.

“We continue to demonstrate that we’ve identified and met all certification requirements,” Muilenburg said.
