The University of Washington is launching the UW Reality Lab with backing from Facebook Inc., Huawei and Alphabet Inc.’s Google.

The tech giants each contributed $2 million in initial funding to the center, which will develop next-generation virtual and augmented reality technology and educate the industry’s workforce.
