The Atlanta City Hall shut down Monday after the building’s air conditioning system broke down.
Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced the early closure shortly after noon.
“The decision … was made out of an abundance of caution,” she said. “Our first priority is the safety and welfare of our employees and our visitors.”
The shutdown did not affect off-site city operations, including Atlanta’s courts and recreation centers.
