The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission is proposing to fine Atlanta-based Southern Co. $145,000 for faking inspections at nuclear Plant Vogtle, the federal agency said Wednesday.

The commission said in a statement workers at the plant south of Augusta, Ga., “did not complete required rounds to check equipment and plant conditions, but provided inaccurate documentation indicating that they had done so.”
