Authorities are investigating the cause of an explosion and fire that has temporarily halted production at Valero’s refinery in Texas City near Houston.
Valero Energy Corp. (NYSE: VLO) confirmed that a fire erupted inside the refinery’s depropanizer tower the afternoon of April 19. The unit is used to remove propane from intermediate streams for gasoline production.
Texas City firefighters were able to contain the fire later that evening and remained on the scene through the morning of April 20.…
