General Motors Co. is moving one of its top executives to take over leadership of the company’s self-driving car unit, Cruise.

GM (NYSE: GM) on Thursday announced that GM President Dan Ammann will become the new Cruise CEO, taking over from Cruise co-founder Kyle Vogt, who will become Cruise chief technology officer and president.
