The Kinder Foundation has made a $70 million contribution to the transformation of Memorial Park, which is expected to cost hundreds of millions of dollars and take about 20 years to complete.
The gift is largest single parks grant in Houston’s history, according to an April 25 press release from Memorial Park Conservancy. It’s also slightly more than half of the $125 million in private-sector funding the conservancy has raised so far.
