Kroger Co. is laying off hundreds of middle-management employees in an apparent move to cut costs.

The Cincinnati Business Courier confirmed the layoffs taking place across the country. Kroger (NYSE: KR), the nation’s largest operator of traditional supermarkets, has 453,000 employees. It was unclear how many are in Greater Cincinnati.
