A former MARTA executive has pleaded guilty in federal court to orchestrating a false invoice scheme that resulted in the transit agency paying for more than $500,000 in maintenance work that was never done.
Joseph J. Erves, 52, of Lithonia, Ga., former senior director of operations, was charged last month with one count of federal program theft following an investigation by the FBI and MARTA police.
