Starbucks Corp. will open its first U.S. store designed for deaf customers and staff near in Northeast Washington D.C., the company announced Thursday.
The Signing Store at Sixth and H streets NE will be staffed by 20 to 25 deaf and hard of hearing employees or hearing employees who are proficient in American Sign Language.
Deaf baristas will have ASL-embroidered aprons, while hearing employees who sign will have an “I Sign” pin.
