The Houston Texans have had some big changes to their staff in the past couple of days.

First, Rick Smith, general manager and executive vice president of football operations, announced Dec. 31 he is taking an extended leave of absence, effective immediately. He is taking the time off to focus on his wife, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
