Wayfair Inc. is the latest company to bring new life back to the old General Time Corp. plant in Athens, Georgia.

The Boston online retail giant known for household goods will occupy a new customer support center on the site of the former General Time plant, which shut down almost 20 years ago.

Wayfair is investing $8 million in the project and creating up to 500 jobs, Gov. Brian Kemp announced June 19.
